Trinidad "Triny" M. Duran

1919-2014 Trinidad “Triny” M. Duran, (almost) 95, of Adelino, NM peacefully passed away Saturday, August 23, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 17, 1919, in Carnuel, NM, the daughter of Salvador and Aurelia Herrera. In 1943 she married Cipriano Duran together they had ten wonderful children. Triny was the matriarch of the family. She lived to see five generations. Triny loved everyone she met, and everyone loved her. Everyone knew her as “Gramma D”. She was famous for her Sunday Morning Breakfasts, her annual Birthday Celebrations, her beans, tortillas, chili, empanadas, chili rellenos (the little footballs) her “punkin” pies, and biscochitos, and no celebration was complete without her sweet rice. Her door and her heart were open to everyone. Her favorite saying was “I may have a little house, but I have a Big Heart” and she did. She was an awesome person, who expressed an abundance of love. After raising her children, she still had so much love to give, she went to work as a Foster Grand-Parent for many years both at the Los Lunas Hospital and Training School, and later at the elementary schools. In her spare time she enjoyed going to the casino (for therapy) playing pokeno, crocheting, embroidering, crafts, but mostly she enjoyed spending time with her friends, family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cipriano Duran; sons, Jerry Duran, and Gilfred Duran; grandsons, Steven and Paul Jaramillo, Robert (Robbie) Garcia; and daughter-in-law, Anita Duran. Triny is survived by her children, Lily and husband, Orlando Jaramillo, Gloria -Jeannie and husband, Mike Garcia, Regina Duran, Yolanda and husband, Robert Garcia, Kathy and husband, Carlos Casillas, Paul and wife, Dina Duran, Rose Mary and husband, James Sandoval, Betty and husband, Leonard Perea; daughters-in-law, Marvine Duran and Linda Duran; 56 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mela Garcia; sister-in-law, Leornardita Montano; and brothers-in-law, Fedienco and wife, Mabel Duran and Antonio Baca. She is also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, and very special friends, Mela Jaramillo and Emma Sedillo. All services will be held at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tome, NM beginning with a Public Viewing on Tuesday, August 26th at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. A Final Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 27th at 10:00 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. with Father Jose Hernandez presiding. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. The family has entrusted their loved one to the caring professionals at Romero Funeral Home.
