Seferino "Sefe" A. Saiz Jr.

1950 -2021 With great sorrow, we announce the passing our husband, dad and papa, Seferino “Sefe” Anthony Saiz Jr., age 71, a resident of Belen, NM. Sefe passed away surrounded by his family on August 14, 2021. He was a strong believer of faith and the Raiders. Sefe was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, where he would usher at the 8:00 AM mass. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1970. Sefe began his lifetime career at PNM and retired after 36 years. He enjoyed spending time with family. When he wasn’t chasing grandkids, he was restoring classic cars and jogging our town of Belen. Sefe was preceeded in death by his parents, Seferino Sr. and Annie Saiz; brothers, Steve, Robert, and Leo; grandparents, Seledon and Isabelita Baca; in-laws, Eloy and Emilia Rael; grandson, Baby Tony; aunt and uncle, Raymond and Agnes Baca; nephews; Lawrence, Robbie, Andrew, Michael and Johnny; nieces, Melinda, Monica and Gina. He met Liz, the love of his life, and married her in 1973. They were blessed with their children, Renee (Lee) Montoya, Marlina (Chris) Sinclair, Emma (Kevin) Pena, Steven Sanchez, Tony (Karly) Aragon; 21 grandchildren, Damion, Celia, Daeus & A’ja, Shelby & Tito, Dylan and Alyssa, Lindsey & Nicholas, Sefe & Jackie, Brady, Bailey, Josh, Isaiah & Melissa, Elijah, Becente, Espie, and Antonio; 6 great grandchildren, Alexa, Estevan, Aspen, Grey, Gemma, and Xavier. He was loved dearly by Esther (Ma) Peralta and his sisters and brothers-in-law, Elsie (Willie), Dorothy (Johnny), Lorraine (Carl), Charlie (Rose), Valentin (Ninfa), Armelina, (Leroy), Victor (MaryAlice), Benny (Dan), Arleen (Eddy), Frances (Rodney). Sefe will be missed by all who knew him. He was so full of life and always lived for others. Sefe had amazing strength, never showing his pain during his life long battle with heart disease. He left behind lots of memories to be forever cherished in our hearts. Services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church on Monday, August 23, 2021, beginning with a Public Viewing from 6:00-7:00 PM, followed by a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM, continuing on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, with a Final Visitation from 9:00-10:00 AM, Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM and Interment to follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are his grandsons: Steven, Damion, Daeus, Dylan, Tito, Sefe, Brady and Nick.
