Rachel Maria Sowash Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

1943 -2021 Rachel M. Sowash, age 77, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away July 23, 2021. She was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Rachel grew up in Belen and graduated from Belen High School. She worked and served at many restaurants in Belen and also at Baca’s restaurant in Albuquerque, where she met her husband, Sam Saiz. When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed spending time with family and sharing her cooking skills with her kids and grandkids and passing on her family recipes. Rachel is preceded in death by her parents, Clovis and Magdalena Flores; brothers, Desi, Albino, Lupe and Pete Flores; son, Robert Sowash and daughter, Rossie Sepulveda and granddaughter, Adrianna Maez. She is survived by her husband, Samuel Saiz of 50 years; daughter, Denise Carrillo (Ruben); son, Sam Saiz; sisters, Peggy, Lucy, Molly and Christine and brother, Paul; grandchildren, Merissa, Robert and wife Erica, Gabrielle, Rachel, Troy and partner Ashley, Tori, Milo, Sami, Serena, Tino, Anthony, Larissa, Alenna and Alaya; great-grandchildren, Devine, Nehemiah, Vashti, Jayden, Braiden, Miguel, Isaiah, Bentley, Novah and Kai; and many loving nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Robert Maez, Leonel Ramirez, Troy and Milo Carrillo, Tino and Anthony Rodriguez. Services will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, beginning with a Visitation at 8:30 AM, Rosary to be recited at 9:30 AM, Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM and Interment to follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens.
