Porfirio Silva

1938 – 2021 Porfirio Silva, age 82, a resident of Los Trujillos, passed away on January 18, 2020. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church and owner of Discount Mattress in Belen. Porfirio is preceded in death by his loving wife, Amelia of 59 years; brothers, David and Randy; parents, José and Tillie Silva; grandmother, Libradita Silva; infant children, Maria and Eugene. He is survived by his children, David (Katrin), Yvonne, Joanne, Cathy (Tony), Roberto, Paul (Juanita); grandchildren, Bobby, Jenna, Jeffrey, Kristi Victoria, Iris, Lillie, Jack, Angelina, Ava, Tille, Oliva, Vicente, Santiago, Felisha, Alisha and Nathan, as well as many great-grandchildren; brother, Alex (Angie); sisters, Irene and Eva and step-brothers Mel and Felix. Porfirio was a devoted husband of 59 years to his wife, Amelia, who passed away in May of 2020. He was a phenomenal father to 6 children who he raised to believe that they could do anything they set their sight on; he was their constant cheerleader with anything they pursued in life. Don Porfirio was a mentor and confidant to many in the community. He loved talking to people from all walks of life and never judged anyone. Porfirio treated all people they way he treated his own family and had the ability to lift people up and make them feel special; if you were from Valencia county, he would figure out a connection to family and have a little story to share with you…of an uncle, or great grandmother. Because of the gift he had of connecting with people, Porfirio was an accomplished and respected business man in the community. His final business, Discount Mattress, was part of the community for 27 years. Our father was very proud of his work ethic only missing days for the births of his grandchildren or graduations. Pampa, as he was known to his many grandchildren, adored him for his kindness and loving gestures. Pampa will never be forgotten as his memories will always be carried in our hearts Services will take place on Monday, January 25, 2021, at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, beginning with a Visitation at 8:30 AM, Rosary to be recited at 9:30 AM, Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM and Interment to follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens.
