Mateo John David

May 15th 2014 – May 18th 2014 Mateo John David passed peacefully in mommy and daddy’s arms and went into the arms of Jesus on Sunday night, May 18th. We welcomed our precious son Mateo at 4:05pm on Thursday, May 15th. He weighed 3lbs 12oz and 18in long. Daddy and Mommy are Jason and Kim Baca David of Albuquerque, NM; his big sister is two year old Ariana David; his maternal Papa and Nana are Pat and LuAnn Baca of Belen, NM; his paternal Grandpa and Grandma are John David and Christy Cooke of Hudsonville, MI; his aunts and uncles are Daniel and Yvette Driscoll of Los Lunas, Patrick S. Baca and fiancée, Su Medina of Albuquerque, and Julie and Jack Gahagan of Coopersville, MI; his cousins are Kati, Haylee, Miley Driscoll and Rae, Liam and Walter Gahagan. At the 20th week of pregnancy doctors informed us that Mateo had a very rare medical condition known as Trisomy 18, or Edward’s Syndrome. Trisomy 18 is a condition with a 95% stillborn rate and several physical abnormalities affecting the major organs. From the beginning we knew that we were going to honor God’s miracle of life. We wanted to give our son every opportunity to fulfill his purpose in this world. Mateo was a fighter from the start. He defied the odds by making it to term, surviving the birth, and living for four days. Considering he had severe heart defects, his four days in this world were miraculous. Mateo you are awesome! Mateo, you were Ariana’s “little buddy” and she knew you were going to play with Jesus. You were Mama’s little baby and Dada’s baby boy. You were a blessing to your entire family and loved ones, who prayed for you every day. You are perfect and at home now in heaven. We know that the moment you left our arms, you were in the arms of Jesus. You go play now. (2 Corinthians 5:8 – (8) We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.) Services will be held at Calvary Chapel Rio Grande Valley in Belen on Friday, May 23rd at 11am. Calvary Chapel is located at 19381 N. HWY 314, Belen NM 87002. The burial will follow and take place at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church at 101 N. 10th St., Belen, NM 87002. A reception will follow the burial at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church Parish Hall.
