Marijean Alice Boucher

˜Marijean Alice Carmack Boucher, age 67, a resident of Las Cruces, NM passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, March 6 at Memorial Medical Center after battling cancer. She was born in 1944 in Spokane, WA to the late Reno and Clarice Dye Carmack, and grew up in Rockford, WA on the family farm. She married Fred Balding on July 28, 1963 while attending Eastern Washington University and had two children, Jeff and Patty. In 1966 she graduated with a teaching degree and soon began her teaching career which lasted until her retirement in 2011. She married Larry Boucher on February 14, 1983 in Belen, New Mexico, and had one child, the late Dawna Leigh. In 1998 she moved to San Jose, CA teaching at Valle Vista Elementary, and had recently moved back to Las Cruces after retirement. Marijean was a caring, devoted and loyal wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She most enjoyed the company of those she kept close. She will be deeply missed by many. She took pride in her career as an elementary school teacher, and many children in Hatch and Las Cruces in New Mexico, and Riverside and San Jose in California, were impacted by her nurturing teaching. She was preceded in death by daughter, Dawna Boucher; brother, Bruce Carmack, and father-in-law, Terry Boucher. Marijean is survived by her husband of 29 years, Larry; children, Jeff Balding of Nokesville, VA and Patty D’Amore and husband, Marc of Las Cruces; grandchildren, Dolli Myers and husband John of Yuba City, CA, Lorraine D’Amore of Kissimmee, FL, and Thomas D’Amore and Tyler Balding of Las Cruces; great-granddaughter, Ryan Myers; nieces and nephews, Roberta Carmack of Spokane, John Carmack and wife, Juanita of Rathdrum, ID, Lauri Hansen and husband, Don and Julie Hansen and husband, Dan of Rockford, Kim Wickens and husband, Mike of Albuquerque, NM and Robert Boucher of Grapevine, TX; sisters-in-law, Terri Vrabel and husband, Charles of Grapevine and Barbara Carmack of Rockford; and mother-in-law, Mary Boucher of Belen. A Memorial Service will be held in Las Cruces on Saturday, March 10 at 10:00 a.m. at Heart for the World Church at 1605 South Valley Drive. A Visitation ˜will be held at Romero Funeral Home on Monday, March 12 at 12:30 p.m. with ˜Funeral Service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Terrace Grove Cemetery. The family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.˜˜
