Lupe A. Carter

˜Lupe A. Carter passed quietly into the care of Our Lord on May 25, 2012.˜ She was born Lupe Ann Baca, on the family ranch in Bernardo, NM on September 10, 1937.˜ She spent the majority of her life in Belen where she met and married the love of her life, Charles V. Carter.˜ Together they raised five children.˜ She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend who believed strongly in family and tradition.˜ Lupe was the embodiment of quiet intelligence and loyalty, traits she taught her family to value. Lupe attended Belen High School and was an active member of her class reunion committee.˜ She graduated from the University of Albuquerque, St. Joseph’s on the Rio Grande where she earned bachelor’s degrees in Chemistry, Physical Science and Spanish.˜ Lupe subsequently worked at U of A until 1986 as a microbiology researcher. She continued her work in the area of research and quality control until her retirement. Lupe was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Carter and her parents, Ruben Baca and Neph (Giron) Baca.˜ She is survived by her children Kathleen Cox and her husband Harold, David Carter and his wife Cynthia, Curtis Carter, Neph Frazer and her husband Mark, and Rebecca Carter-Keesling and her husband James.˜ Lupe had seven grandchildren Jennifer Foller, Charles C. Carter, Christopher Carter, Carey Carter, Jasmine Keesling, Calen Keesling, and David Perfetti; ten great-grandchildren Marissa, Brooklynn, Charles, Sydney, Caleb, Abigail, Julian, Avery, Carter and Addison.˜ Lupe is also survived by her sisters and brother; Eileen Brubaker, Anna Gutierrez, MaryAnn Smith, Dolores Vallejos, Bernadette C de Baca, Ben Baca and their families. A viewing for family and friends˜will be held at Romero Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 29 at 10:00 a.m. with a funeral service following ˜at 11:00 a.m.˜ Interment˜will follow˜at Terrace Grove Cemetery.˜ Pallbearers˜will be˜David Carter, Curtis Carter, Charles Carter, Christopher Carter, Carey Carter, and Calen Keesling.˜ Honorary Pallbearers˜will be ˜David Perfetti, James Keesling, Mark Frazer and Harold Cox.
