Larry Baca

Larry Baca, 74, was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, cherished brother, faithful friend, and a brother to many. Known for his unwavering work ethic, strong morals, and deep love for the Lord, Larry peacefully passed away on July 27, 2026, at his home in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, surrounded by his beloved family. Services will take place at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Friday, August 7, 2026, beginning with a Visitation at 11:00 a.m., Rosary at 11:15 a.m., Eulogy 11:45 a.m. and a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Tome Catholic Cemetery. Larry was born in 1952 in Belen, New Mexico, to Narcisco and Mercedes "Mercy" Baca. He was preceded in death by his parents, Narcisco and Mercy Baca, and his beloved brother, George Baca. He is now reunited with his mama, dad, and brother in the presence of the Lord. Larry's love for Jesus began as a young boy while attending St. Anthony's Orphanage, where he faithfully prayed to St. Anthony each day in the courtyard. That foundation of faith remained with him throughout his life and shaped the man he became. Larry had a lifelong passion for landscaping and gardening. To him, tending the earth was more than a profession or hobby-it reflected the way he lived. Just as he planted and nurtured gardens, he also planted seeds of faith and practical life skills in those around him. He found great joy in teaching others, encouraging them, and helping them grow. Larry shared 53 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Hope Baca. They met in Belen, fell in love, and built a beautiful life together while starting a family in Bosque Farms before moving to Rio Rancho to raise their family for the last 46 years. Through every joy and every hardship, their enduring love, faith, and commitment carried them forward. Larry's strength, determination, courage, and quiet example will continue to live on through his children and all who knew him. He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Hope Baca; his children, Trinidad Baca, Nicole Apodaca and her husband, Mario Apodaca, and Jimmy Baca. Larry was a proud grandfather to Mariano Apodaca, Damion Apodaca, Victoria Apodaca, Elisha Apodaca, Austin Baca, Lilly Baca, Raiden Baca, and Kayrin Baca and the anticipated first great-grandchild, Baby Jackson. He is also survived by his sisters, Diana Urtiga and her husband, Alfred Urtiga; Lisa Nesbitt; Barbara Baca, and Mary Lou Serafin along with many whose lives were touched by knowing him. Larry's legacy is one of faith, hard work, and love. His hands built and nurtured beautiful landscapes, but his greatest work was cultivating the lives of his family and those that got to know him.
