1959- 2026 In Loving Memory of Kimberlee Renae Grant Kimberlee Renae Grant, a long-time resident of Deming and current resident of Bosque, NM, left her earthly body to find peace after a short but valiant battle with cancer. She passed away surrounded by the love and comfort of her children and their spouses. Affectionately known as "Grandma Kim" to countless sports and rodeo kids over the years, she touched many lives through her willingness to help wherever needed. She ran the books at ropings, kept times for the kids at rodeos, announced events, and traveled to places she never imagined visiting just to watch volleyball or any other event her grandchildren were participating in. Above all else, Kim was her family's biggest cheerleader (a trait she passed on to her daughter). She rarely missed an opportunity to show up for her children and grandchildren, and over the years, she could be found proudly supporting: Deming Little League Deming Saddle Club New Mexico Junior Rodeo Association Deming Wildcat Softball Crossroads City Derby Los Lunas Softball Los Lunas Volleyball In her quieter moments, Kim found joy in quilting, reading, baking, and watching any and all sports (a trait she passed on to her son). She also loved attending country music concerts and all the traditional New Mexico community events with her kids, and other family and friends. She was a member of the Deming chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi social sorority and shared a bond with the many lap dogs she loved and cared for over the years. Kim was a 1977 graduate of Deming High School, where she shared her spirited nature as a majorette and an active member of the marching band as a flute player. Throughout her life, she was known for her strong work ethic and dedication to her community. Her varied career included dedicating over 20 years as a Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service in Deming, working as a unit clerk for Wexford Health, an employee at El Paso Natural Gas, a bus driver for Deming Public Schools, and working alongside her sister at Systems Bookkeeping. Kim is preceded in death by her father, Charles Ray Shirley; her maternal grandparents, Elzie and George X. Mellor; her paternal grandparents, Arthur Lee and Alva (Sally) Shirley; her Oklahoma relatives: Uncle Jerry Lee Shirley, Uncle George "Butch" Mellor, Jr., and Aunt Venita Oliver; her dear brother-in-law, Steve Hobbs; and her ex-husband and life-long friend, E. Dale Grant. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy and is survived by her loving mother, Alice Marie Shirley; her Uncle, Dr. Clarence Oliver; her sister, Tracy Dawn Earl (Oscar); and her brother, George David Shirley (Liberty). She will be deeply missed by her devoted children, Kirby Romero (Manuel) and Robbie Dale Grant (Laura). Her grandchildren: Chantelle, Shaunia, Ethan, Aleigha, and DaleLynn. Kim is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Mandi, Kenna (Justin), and Jake (Dana); her grand-nieces and nephews: Mackenzie, Gavin, Lincoln, Wyatt, and River; her extended family of cousins: Billy Mellor (Susan), Vanessa Latvala (Chris), and Megan Ervin (Jimmie Pink); Lauren Mellor, Gemma, Genevieve and Harrison Latvala, and Josephine Pink; Paul A. Oliver (Kathy), Mark G. Oliver (Shelly), Shirley June Parsons (Philip), Jerry Max Shirley, Michael Shirley, and Linda Gamble (Roy); as well as her life-long friends, Leslie Nabours and Valerie Tyler. Family, friends, and those whose lives were touched by Kim are invited to gather and celebrate her life. Graveside Service: July 10 at Mountain View Cemetery in Deming, NM.
