Joanie McNabb Simmons Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

1943 -2021 Joanie “McNabb” Simmons, age 78, “Earth Lost an Angel” on March 21, 2021. She was born to Violet & Clarence McNabb on February 6, 1943 in Clarendon, TX. and then moved in Dalhart, TX as a child prior to moving to Albuquerque to finish Jr. High and High School. Joanie was a talented seamstress and crowned “The Cotton Queen”. She began her career as a switch board operator for Mountain Bell at the age of 18. Joanie retired after 37 yrs. service as an HR Manager for AT&T. She was restless from retirement and decided to get a part-time position with La Vida Llena, which ultimately led to a full-time job for over 10 yrs. in HR. Joanie was the most selfless, beautiful and nurturing person. Anyone and everyone who knew her, loved and respected her. Her smile and positive attitude would brighten anyone’s day. She was married for almost 59 years to Harper Simmons and was a wonderful mother to Yvonne, Rodney and Justin. She has two grandsons, Gabriel and Evan. Joanie is preceded in death by both her parents, baby sister, Rebecca, and many extended family members. She is survived by her Nuclear family; her brother, Alfred McNabb and sister Peggy Collins; her brother in-law, Jimmy Simmons; two sisters-in-law, Dorthy Curtis and Patty Perkins, along with OH SO many nieces and nephews. She will remain in our hearts forever. Rest in Peace Sweet Joanie!
