Jenny DeAnda

˜Juanita “Jenny” DeAnda, age 85, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt passed away Friday, September 7, 2012.˜ She was born on June 24, 1927 in Belen, NM.˜ Jenny was a very committed member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church who attended mass several times a week.˜ She always had an up spirit and radiated positivity.˜ A fitness fanatic before it became popular; Jenny jogged for over 30 years, enjoyed a good volley in tennis, loved swimming, and maintained her home exercise regimen throughout her lifetime.˜ Recently she was taking aerobic classes with a much younger crowd and enjoyed announcing “if you don’t move it, you lose it!”˜ Jenny and her beloved Eddy enjoyed spending time together and many recognized them walking religiously around town.˜ They were always the best dancers in the room and enjoyed travel, went on many cruises, road trips, and especially loved visiting Jennifer and Ken in New Jersey.˜ They traveled to New Jersey every year for 25 years enjoying the east coast cities and beaches, and Ken made sure to take her to see every cathedral, famous and not.˜ She really loved that and said she would never forget it.˜ She was the last of five children to leave home, traveling to Chicago and California before settling down.˜ She worked at Dills Electric and later as a bookkeeper at the Livestock Auction Sale Barn.˜˜ The job she enjoyed the most was working at the elementary school as a teacher’s aide and with the lunch program.˜ She loved all the kids in town saying hi to her when she was out.˜ She was preceded in death by her beloved son Leonard; husband Eddy; parents Presciliano “Buddy” and Elena Gabaldon Sanchez; sister, Erlinda “Early” Garcia, and sister-in-law Mary Tabet Sanchez; brother Tranquilino “Kilo” Sanchez; and brother-in-law Eduardo “Lalo” Lopez.˜ Jenny is survived by her devoted daughter Jennifer and husband, Ken; daughter-in-law, Cynthia DeAnda, and cherished grandson, Steven.˜ She is also survived by her sisters Sesaria “Sessy” Lopez; Lucinda “Cinda” Romero, and brother-in-law Daniel Romero.˜ She loved her nieces like her own and knew she could rely on her nephews.˜ All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church beginning with a Visitation at 8:30 am on Saturday, September 15, with a Rosary to be recited at 9:30 am, and a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 am.˜ Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens.˜ Honorary Urn bearers will be Kenneth Leight and Steven DeAnda.
