Jeannie Maestas Kear

1946-2015 Jeannie Maestas Kear, a resident of Bosque Farms, and originally from Belen, passed away peacefully at her home Monday evening. She was surrounded by loving family, friends, and pets. Jeannie grew up in Belen and was a graduate of Belen High School and, more recently, of the University of New Mexico where she was an honor student. She was a member of the “Ya-Ya’s” which included the late Judy Maestas, Rosemary Sanchez Apodaca, Diana Moya Cordova and Joyce Maestas Ashner. Jeannie was the bright light and happy smile in the lives of everyone who knew her. She loved being surrounded by all the people in her life and was the very best grandmother in the world. She cared for nothing more than time with those she loved and was always able to find the beauty and joy in every experience in her life. She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Ryan Kear; her beloved dog, Beauty; her loving nephews, Pat Garcia and Christopher Montano; and her parents, Alvaro and Daisy Maestas. Jeannie is survived by her children, Michael and Sharla Kear, Joseph and Jessica Lucero and Teresa Kear. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Abel and Samantha Kear, Andrew Lucero and his wife, Nicole and great-grandbaby, Olivia Brooke who is expected to arrive any day, Jesslyn and Jeffrey Lucero and her dog-grandchildren, T.J., Adora, Dusty and Marley. She is also survived by her brother, Kenny Maestas (wife Nora), her sister, Carol Romero (husband Manuel) and her sister, Debbie Trujillo, her support and confidant throughout her illness, Rosemary Apodaca, as well as countless nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, on Friday, March 13th beginning with a Viewing at 8:30 a.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. with Father Stephen Schultz officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Matthew Romero, Daniel Trujillo, Jeffrey Lucero, Abel Maestas Kear, Eddie Matsu, Romie Aveles, Diego Garcia, Gabriel Montano and Anthony Mora. Honorary Pallbearers will be Samantha Maestas Kear, Jesslyn Lucero, Bobby Garcia, Andrew and Nicole Lucero, and the Ya-Ya Sisters Rosemary, Diana and Joyce.
