Felipe G. Padilla

˜ Felipe G. Padilla, age 91, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away on Friday, June 4, 2010. He enjoyed dancing with family and friends. Felipe was an inventor of his own kind. His inventions were brought to life by his son, David and grandson, Joseph. Felipe was drafted into the United States Army where he was first in the CC Camps in Southern, NM. He fought in the Aleutian Island, was transferred to General Patton’s command where he participated in D-Day in Normandy, The Battle of Bulge and many campaigns in between. He was also a POW during WWII. Felix received two bronze stars for valor, two purple hearts, and two metals of good conduct with Oak Leaf Clusters along with several others. He was preceded in death by his wife, Onecima Cordova Padilla; parents, Justi?ano and Josefita Griego Padilla; three sons, Levi, Tony and Phillip; daughter, Veronica; grandson, Guy; granddaughter, Melanie; great-granddaughter, Alyssa; brother, Max; three sisters, Mary, Sophie and Emily; three sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; and five nephews. ˜Felipe is survived by his loving children, Evelyn Sanchez and husband, Johnny of Jarales, NM, David Padilla and wife, Diane of Los Lunas, NM, Jeanette Wiggings of Los Lunas, Geraldine Garcia and husband, Gene of Belen, Carol Padilla of Belen, Judy Barela and husband, Danny of Los Lunas, Dolores Montoya of Belen, Stanley Padilla of Belen, Annabelle Torres and Daniel of Mountainair, NM; 23 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.˜ All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, on Tuesday, June 8, beginning with a viewing at 9:00 a.m. with a rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Joseph, Melissa, David, Renee, Levi and Jesus. Honorary Pallbearer will be Stanley. The family would like to give a special thank you to his grandson, Joseph and grand-daughter-in-law, Melissa for their special love and care during his illness.
