Eufracia S. Orona

Eufracia S. Orona, or Flossie as most people knew her by, at age 89, went home to her eternal resting place on June 13, 2018. She was born on April 17, 1929, in Sierra County, N.M., to Manuel and Maria Saavedra. She married Elfego Orona July 23, 1929. Flossie was a devoted Christian wife and mother, who loved taking care of and being involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Flossie lived with her daughter, Pat, and her family for the past 12 years. She was a member of Faith Family Church in Canton, Ohio, where she volunteered getting and preparing clothes for those in need. Flossie received her GED and went on to receive an associate degree in business administration for the Los Lunas Hospital and Training School from which she retired in 1991. She loved life, cooking, crocheting, dancing, bingo, shopping, traveling and helping anyone in need. She loved life to the fullest and touched many hearts in her 89 years. She will be truly missed. She is preceded in death by her husband, Elfego Orona, parents, Manuel Saavedra, Maria Savvedra and Escolastico Chavez; her sisters, Manuela (Mela) Otero and Flora Silva; brother, Tony Saavedra; grandsons, Eddie Herrea Jr. and Elfego Orona; and several nieces and nephews. Flossie is survived by her brother, Danny Chavez; sister, Annie Martinez; children, Gene Orona (Barb), Richard Orona (Evelyn), Patricia Bryan (Joe) Carlos Orona (Agnes), Dennis Orona (Elaine), Marylou Herrea (Eddie), Robert Orona (Esther), Christine Miller (Ed), Emelda Montano, Elfego Orona Jr. (Ayesha) and Gerald Orona (Lorena); 29 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. We will always love and miss you Mom, Grandma and Great Grammy! The family has requested that donations be made to St. Jude Children Hospital in lieu of flowers Cremation has taken place. There will be services for Flossie on Wednesday, July 18, Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta. Visitation begins at 9 a.m., followed by a Rosary and Mass. Internment will be held immediately following at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery. Everyone is welcome to join the family for a reception at the parish hall in Peralta afterwards.
