Eloy S. Garley

1947-2017 Eloy S. Garley, a resident of Los Chavez, New Mexico, was called home on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the age of 69. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers AFL-CIO, Local Lodge 794. He retired from Sandia National Laboratories after 28 years as a mechanic. He loved the land, farming alfalfa and chili, which he shared generously with family and friends. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed working on and restoring his hot rod. He was known for hosting cookouts for his friends and family. Eloy is preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Emma Garley; brothers, Tony, Ray, Boysito and Albert; sister, Eliza, and grandson, Baby Carlos. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ida Chavez Garley; daughters, Monica Mireles (Carlos), and Victoria Salas (Tony); grandchildren, Sgt. Jonan Torres, Ashley Archibeque (Justin), Kevin Mireles, Marissa Mireles; brother, Larry Garley; sisters, Andrea Demmon, Vivian Shimabuku, Lillian Chacon, Grace Garley, Theresa Garley; and many nephews and nieces. All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, on Friday, February 3, 2017. A visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., with a rosary to be recited at 10:30 a.m., and a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. Urn bearers are his grandchildren, Sgt. Jonan Torres, Ashley Archibeque, Kevin Mireles, and Marissa Mireles. Honorary urn bearers are Larry Griego, Damian Gutierrez, Carlos Mireles, Joe Perez, Tony Salas, Alfred Sanchez, Remy Sanchez, and Philip Vigil. The family would like to thank you for all the prayers, visits, phone calls and support from family and friends during his illness.
