Delicia Sanchez

1926 - 2023 Delicia “Delly” Sanchez, age 97, a resident of Peralta, NM, began her eternal life on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. Services will take place on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta NM. Public Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m., and Rosary at 11:15 a.m. a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m., followed by Interment at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery. A reception will follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Hall. She is survived by her five children, Valerie ‘Anna” Chavez (Richard), Chris Sanchez (Vicky), Hector Sanchez (Theresa), Manuel Sanchez (Jeanine), Daniel Sanchez (Doris); eight grandchildren, Desiree (Eric Smith), Victoria (Gabe Olguin), Melissa (John Holjencin), Christopher (Holly), Jessica, Rochelle (Randy) Gomez, Tonia and Tiffany; fourteen great-grandchildren; sister Martha Moya, and one great-great grandson. Delicia is preceded in death by her loving husband of 73 years Orlando Sanchez, her parents; five brothers, Polo, Gilbert, Elias JR. (Lejoe), Manuel and Roldan; her seven sisters, Mercy, Emilia (Lila), Gloria, Doddy, Rachel, Eileen, and Olga; two grandsons, Steven and Hector Sanchez Jr; and her great grand-daughter, Celeste Holjencin. Delicia was born to parents Elias and Estella Maez in Albuquerque, NM on June 7, 1926. Delicia was one of fourteen children. She was a loving, kind and patient women until the end. She worked for and retired from Los Lunas Public Schools. Delicia loved her family and when her children would sing for her birthday and Christmas. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was one of her favorite things to do while drinking coffee and telling stories of when she was little. Delicia was always happy to pray, talk to God, and listen to Gospel music. She lived a long and beautiful life always caring for others and reminding us to be kind to one another. Delicia will be remembered by those who were able to sit and enjoy her company and take in her kind smile and memorable advice. “Everybody matters” – Delicia Sanchez.
