Crisanta Baca Padilla

˜Crisanta Baca Padilla, born September 30, 1921 in Adelino, NM, passed away on Friday June 17 in Tome, NM. Jesus said, “I am the light of the world.” He also said, “You are the light of the world” Matthew 5:14.On a balmy September day the trees overflowing with brilliant foliage, a “little light” in the person of Crisanta was born to Manuel Atocha Baca and Leocadia Sanchez Baca in the tiny village of Adelino, NM. This little village was made richer by her arrival. Crisanta grew up surrounded by her brothers, sister, aunts, uncles, and many cousins. Many delightful times were shared together. Time went by and Crisanta had become a beautiful young woman. The “little light” sought another “little light”, in Placido Padilla. From this union came 19 children, each one possessing a light of their own, Regina, Ramoncita, Matthew, Cecilia, Magdalena, Fabian, Beatriz, Rita, Patricia, Carmelita, Ambrose, Gino, James, Mark, Adrian, David Lee, John Roger, Andrea, and one still born son named John.Some of these children married and brought spouses into the family. Regina Griego and husband, Ed, Matthew and wife, Lillian, Magdalena Maestas and husband, Ted, Fabian and wife, Elizabeth, Rita Gutierrez and husband, Eli, Cecilia Padilla and the father of her son, Jayme Salgado, and Ambrose and wife, Jeanette.All son in laws and daughter in laws were loved and welcomed into the family. From these unions came grandchildren, Bruce, Tina, Edwin, Jr. “Tinker”, Rhoanna, Cris Renee, Geoffrey, Rebecca, Rodrigo, Raquel, Reynaldo, Julio, Jayme Placido, Marisol, Mico, Jaime, Jeremias, Celina, Alejandrina, Monica, Vicente, and Emiliano.As some of these grandchildren found their mates even more children were born and made the family bigger and better.There’s a reason they call them great-grandchildren, because they are! Listed are, Danielle, Joshua, Jeremiah, Jacob, Sean, Leanne, Nancy, Erin, Stephanie, Christian, Cheryl, Andrew, Noland, Elise, Alejandro, Azalea, Abrianna, Phillip, Joshua, Elijah, Ila, Aislyn, Sofia, Antonio, Maria De La Luz, and ElenaGreat-great-grandchildren, Taylar, Cash Matthew, Payton, Wyatt, Kaitlin, Royce, Cory Allen, Emma, Antonio, Yalixia, and Sebastian.Crisanta and Placido began their life together in Tome, NM a little town and its people she would grow to love beyond measure. She served as the postmaster for the Tome post office for 43 years.When Crisanta married Placido she joined the Padilla family and was welcomed and loved and she in return loved them. Luis, Eloisa, and Placido’s brothers and sisters were all special to her. Like all families, it grew and grew and there were more people to love.Crisanta kept her faith till the end a life-long member of Immaculate Conception Church in Tome. In this beautiful church she received all the sacraments. Her final sacrament was given by Father Jose on Friday June 17, 2011.Now there is great rejoicing in Heaven.˜ Let’s not forget the “little light.”˜ This little light of mine I’m going to let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!All services will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tome beginning with a Viewing at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21, with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. recited by grandchildren, Monica, Vicente, and Emiliano Padilla. A Final Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22 with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. with Father Jose Hernandez officiating. Interment will follow at Tome Catholic Cemetery.Pallbearers will be Julio Maestas, Geoffrey Griego, Jeremias, Rodrigo, and Vicente Padilla, and Alejandro Griego. Honorary Pallbearers will be her sister, Filo Otero, Godchildren, niece, Maria Otero, and nephew, Rudy Chavez.
