Joyce Cordova

1954 -2020 Joyce Cordova, age 65, beloved mother, sister, and friend passed away peacefully at home on Sunday Sept 13, 2020. She was born in Albuquerque, NM, and moved to Los Angeles, CA when she was 2 years old. Joyce grew up in California and raised her family there, then later moved to New Mexico for the slower pace of life. She worked to support her family throughout her life, and worked as a fitness instructor, a costume designer for a band in North Hollywood and a florist. Joyce would tell you her proudest title was being a mom. “I love yous” and hugs were abundant. She had a strong faith in God. Joyce loved gardening, flowers, baking and eating cookies, hanging out at the beach, and being with family and friends, rock and soul music like Stevie Nicks and the Supremes, laughing and dancing. Her smile would light up a room. She was not judgmental, but cared about getting to know people and help them if she could. In 2005, Joyce was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and later Lewy Body dementia, which she fought until the end. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Joyce is preceded in death by her mother and father, Libby and Frank Cordova; brothers, Mickey and Candy; and ex-husband Mike. She is survived by her daughters, Amber and Brande; sisters, Terrie and Marie; brother, Joe and many nieces and nephews. Mom you are never far, always close in heart. You are free.
