Viola Connelly-Armijo

1927-2017 Viola Connelly-Armijo, age 90, a lifelong resident of Tomé, NM, extended her hand and touched the hand of God and entered the kingdom of Heaven on Saturday, October 28, 2017, surrounded by her devoted daughter and son in-law, Ernest and Lyola Martinez who cared for her. Viola had a heart of gold, always ready to help her family, she was a strong, loving, caring, giving, devoted and faithful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt and friend to all. Her sacrifices were many in her life. She always placed her family’s needs before her own, never complaining. Viola was born in Peralta, NM, to the late Julian and Julianita Connelly, she was the 5th of 6 children. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph C. Armijo; sons, Rudy and Buddy Armijo; grandson, John Armijo; her parents; nephew, Michael Brandt; and numerous brothers, sisters and in-laws. Viola is survived by her children, Louie (Benny) Armijo, Lyola (Ernest) Martinez; daughter in-law, Belinda Armijo-Martinez; sister, Bessie Brandt; sister in-law, Lucy Connelly; nephew, Chris (Diane) Brandt (who Viola helped raise); grandchildren, Monica, Ralph and Lynn Armijo, Jackie Montano, Leanne Sonnenberg, Rudy and Richie Armijo, Ann Renee Ortega, Coleen Armijo, Christy Martinez, Conrad Armijo, Fidel, Ronnie and Darlene Barela, Amanda (Phillip) Martinez-Saiz; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; nieces; nephews and cousins. All services will take place on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Romero Funeral Home Chapel. A Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Rosary to be recited at 10:30 a.m. and a Funeral Service to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Valencia Catholic Cemetery in Peralta. Urn bearers will be Fidel Barela, Ralph Armijo, Rudy Armijo and Chris Brandt. Honorary Urn bearers will be the remaining grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
