Policarpio "Paul" S. Moya

Policarpio "Paul" S. Moya, was born in La Costancia, NM, to Jose Isaac Moya and Francisca (Sanchez) Moya. The beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend, began his journey to the heavenly kingdom on Saturday, April 30th, 2011. A man from humble beginnings, he always maintained his zest for life, with a deep and abiding appreciation for the teachings of his religion, and an unswerving devotion and dedication to his family, friends, and community. Paul possessed a genuine affection for all of God's creations, and never met a stranger that he didn't welcome with a smile, and a joke, and genuine conversation. To his family, he was a father, a teacher, a councilor, always supportive, always encouraging. He was one who placed a premium on the value of a quality education, as well as honesty, integrity and hard work. He loved his farm, and he loved to farm. He has left us with a wonderful legacy and many marvelous memories. He will be truly missed. Paul retired from the AT&SF Railroad, after 46 years of service. He was a life long member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Tome, where he served on numerous committees, and was an alter-man as well. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, where he served as treasurer and Grand Knight, and as a member of the 'Forth Degree' Knights. Additionally, he held various positions with the Belen Railway Credit Union Board for 61 years; he was a member of the Tome-Adelino Fire Department; a member of the Valencia County Fair Board; and served on the Belen Hospital Board. Paul is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Jo (Garley) Moya. He was the proud father of six children; Joseph and friend Peggy Guthjar, Mary Ellen and husband Benny Hodges, Ron and wife Mary, Eugene and wife Janet, Anna and husband Gerry Troyer and Theresa and husband Lawrence Johnson. His grandchildren; Max Moya and wife Melanie, Irene, Paul, Xavier, Raquel and Benito Moya, Alexandra Hodges, Benjamin Hodges and wife Desiree, Maria, Victoria and Joey Troyer, Francisco Romero and wife Angelica and great-grandchildren; Maxim and Maisie Moya. All services for Paul will be held in Tome at the Immaculate Conception Church, beginning with a viewing at 5:30 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 02, 2011. A final viewing will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 03, 2011. Internment will follow at the Tome Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Max, Paul David, and Xavier Moya, Francisco Romero, Gilbert and Donald Garley. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joey Troyer and Benito Moya.
