Olen C. Chambers Jr.

1927-2013 Olen Carl Chambers II, age 86, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 12, 2013 at his home in Los Lunas, New Mexico. He was born on June 9, 1927 in Mena, Arkansas to Olen and Vivian Chambers. He graduated from Mena High School. After high school he joined the US Army Air Forces, and served in the Korean War. Olen then worked as an electrician with the IBEW Local Union 611. He retired after 45 years. Olen was a member of the Lion’s Club, Elks, Masonic Order, and Moose Lodge. He belonged to Moose Legion 134 and Lodge 1517 where he was a life member. He received his 50 year life certificate and his Fellowship Degree of Merit. He was Past Governor for Lodge 1680, Past District 6 President, Past Grand North in Moose Legion 134, Past Arizona-New Mexico Moose Association President, Past Moose International Deputy Supreme Governor, Past Moose International Legion Ambassador, and Present Life Member of the highest degree to be received: The Pilgrim Degree of Merit. Friday was his day to spend time with his friends and Moose family at the Lodge. He loved spending time there, and recently met a special friend (“Buddy”). He enjoyed collecting stamps and coins. He loved animals, especially his two dogs Cuddles 1 and Cuddles 2. He loved being outdoors and having a garden. He could often be found listening to music and singing in his garage, while working on various tasks. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife and mother of his six children, Jimmie Sue Chambers; his wife, Betty Chambers; his son, Theodore “Teddie” Chambers; and his brother, Kenneth Chambers. Olen is survived by his five children, Linda and husband, Don Gose, Olen “O.C.” and wife, Kay Chambers, Michael and wife, Patricia Chambers, Larry and wife, Donna Chambers, and Norman and wife, Barbara Chambers; his sister’s Carol Wilson and Marilyn and husband, Eddie Ferguson; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild, and many other loving nieces, nephews and relatives. Olen “Papa” was deeply loved by his family, and will be greatly missed. All services will be held at Romero Funeral Home Chapel, on Thursday, April 18, beginning with a viewing at 9:30 a.m. with a Funeral Service to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Terrace Grove Cemetery.
