Marybelle Tabet

1944-2017 Marybelle Romero Tabet, age 73, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017. She was born along with her twin brother, Jesus in Vallejo, California. Marybelle prided herself as a very sociable person who demonstrated from the beginning of her life how she loved people and loved to share her life with others. She graduated from Los Lunas High School and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the College of Santa Fe. Marybelle had a long-standing tradition of taking her granddaughters shopping for Christmas and Easter dresses, school shoes and school outfits even after they went off to college. Family meant a lot to Marybelle. She was always involved with family including her cousins and other members of her extended family. She retired from Sandia National Labs in 1999 after almost 31 years of service. Marybelle and her husband, Ron, owned and operated Carlos’ Cantina & Grill in Belen. She felt it was important to contribute to her community and volunteered at the local food pantry, Ronald McDonald House and Belen Library Story Hour program. Marybelle was preceded in death by her parents, Jesus & Chanita Romero; nephew, Danny Romero; grand-nephew, Joshua Romero; in-laws, Carlos & Theresa Tabet and their children, Bonnie, Elvia, Gilbert and Carlos (Chico)Tabet. Marybelle is survived by her husband, Ron Tabet; son, Jimmy Romero and wife, Joy; step-son, Christopher Tabet; granddaughters, Kylie and Kiera Newman, Sophia, Isabella and Eva Romero; sister, Sylvia Romero Maiorano; twin brother, Jesus Romero Jr. and wife, Lucy; brother, Kenneth Romero and wife, MaryAnn; brother, Chano Romero and wife, Corine; brother, Frank Romero and wife, Janet. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. All services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 5, 2017. A Viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 10:00 a.m., and a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Valencia Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenneth, Chano (Luciano), Tute (Jesus Jr.), Frank and Anthony Romero and Charles Tabet.
