Aurora Somera

1939-2026 Aurora M. Somera, age 87, a lifelong resident of Los Lunas, passed away peacefully at her home on May 10, 2026. She was born on April 1, 1939, in Los Lunas, NM, where she spent her entire life surrounded by family, friends, and community. Services will take place at Romero Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. Starting with a Visitation at 6:00 p.m., and a Rosary at 6:45 p.m. A final Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at San Clemente Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at San Clemente Catholic Cemetery. Aurora was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She cherished the friendships she made at the Los Lunas Senior Center, where she especially enjoyed playing bingo and sharing laughter with friends. Her devoted best friend, Rose Peterson, remained faithfully by her side until her passing. Aurora is survived by her daughters, Patsy Torres, Dora Armijo, Lorie Vigil; sons-in-law Daniel Torres, and Michael Armijo; grandchildren, Steven Somera, Crystal Cadotte, Felicia Torres, Joseph Chavez, Daniel Chavez, Amanda Chavez, Valerie Linton, Jordan Linton, Teresa Armijo, Marcela Knight, Nick Knight, Floreno Armijo, Bekah Greene, Andrew Vigil, and Aviannah Avila; great-grandchildren, Adrian Somera, Anthony Bailey, Jazette Romero, Scarlett Chavez, Emma Chavez, Abigail Chavez, Logan Linton, Ashlyn Atkins, Alysia Atkins, Nicky Knight, and Aysen Vigil; great-great-grandchildren, Jaelynn Romero and Dezmond Somera; sisters, Sarah Pacheco, Adela Alderete, and Eva Garcia; brothers, David DeAnda and George DeAnda; along with many extended family members and dear friends. Tommy and Val Gurule were also like a son and daughter to her and held a very special place in her heart. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Agustin Somera; her parents, Juan Montez and Carmen Baca; daughter Marie Chavez; sons-in-law Adolfo Chavez and Charlie Vigil; granddaughter Angela Chavez; sister Juanita Alling; and brothers Tony DeAnda, Ricky DeAnda, and Merdy DeAnda. Aurora will be remembered for her loving heart, strong family values, warm friendships, and the joy she brought to everyone who knew her. Pallbearers will be Steven Somera, Daniel Chavez, Jordan Linton, Floreno Armijo, Adrian Somera and Andrew Vigil. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joseph Chavez, Daniel Torres, Michael Armijo, Tommy Gurule, Clarence Cadotte and Thomas Gurule.
