Kathryn S. Tafoya

1946-2018 Kathryn Tafoya, age 72, a resident of Bosque Farms, New Mexico passed away on May 10, 2018. Kathy, as she was affectionately known to her family and friends, was born on September 6, 1946 to Eustacio and Clara Sanchez. She was also lovingly known to many as “Cookie.” Kathy was a graduate of Magdalena High School. She attended college at the University of New Mexico, where she graduated in 1969 with a degree in education. Kathy worked for 21 years with the Los Lunas School System, teaching first graders, until 1991 when she was forced to retire due to her illness. She married Antonio in 1966 and welcomed their first son, Jude, in October 1969 and second son, Christopher, in 1972. In 1985 she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Kathy’s only grandson, Reyes, was born in 1993. Her great-granddaughter, Izabella, was born in 2018. She was a loving mother and wife. Kathy loved her entire family and friends and appreciated every one of you. She was preceded in death by her father, Eustacio “Jim” Sanchez; her mother, Clara Armijo Sanchez, and brother, Nestor Sanchez Kathy is survived by her husband and caregiver, Antonio; her two sons Jude (Amanda Delabrue); Christopher Tafoya; grandson, Reyes Tafoya (Jasmine Torres) ; great-grandchildren Izabella and Greyson Tafoya; sister, Mary Ellen Pino; brother and sister-in-law and many loving nieces and nephews. Kathy and the Tafoya family would like to thank Presbyterian Hospice for their help and care. We would also like to thank the Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe and the Homebound Ministries and volunteers. A very special thank you to all the friends and family who have come to spend time with Kathy over the years. She really appreciated your company and friendship. Kathy will be greatly missed.
