Juan J. Sanchez

1927-2016 Juan De Jesus Aragon De Sanchez II from Scholle, NM. He was born on October 2, 1927 to Antonio F. and Marianita (Aragon) Sanchez of Scolle, NM. Juan was a well-known rancher from Scholle, also known as “Los Tonkes Colorodes”. He retired from the BNSF railroad operating dept. after 33 years of service. Juan ran the family ranch that was established in 1883, by his grandfather, Elias Sanchez. He served as president of the Cattleman’s Livestock Auction at times and was a silent partner for 22 years. Juan quit high school his senior year and left to serve his country honorably in the United States Navy during WWII. Upon returning from war, Juan returned to school and graduated and worked at the Locker Plant as a meat cutter/butcher. Also returning home he met the love of his life Daisy at the famous “Tabet Hall”. Juan and Daisy were married July 18, 1953, between the two of them they had $240.00 and started renting a home in Belen. From their love came 6 children that Daisy raised at home while Juan worked hard to provide. When his mother passed away Juan and Daisy purchased the ranch from all of his siblings. Juan was a great man of faith, as a small boy every Sunday, mama Eloisa gathered the family to pray the rosary. If company stopped by without hesitation they would join in with the family in praying. This instilled a deep and personal love for God. This love and tradition was carried out through Juan and Daisy to their children. No matter how busy or tired Juan and his family attended mass every week. All of their children received their sacraments. Juan is preceded in death by his daughter, Gail Sanchez; parents, Antonio F. “ Tata Tony” and Marianita “Nana Tita” Sanchez; sisters, Mary Armijo, Melva Sanchez, Janie Hargis; brother, Tony Sanchez; father and mother-in-law, Bonifacio and Mary Chavez; and brother-in-law, Leo Chavez. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Daisy; children, Russel Sanchez, Catherine Walker and husband, Donald Chavez, Yvonne Sanchez, Marilyn Sanchez-Kaneshiro and husband, Robert, and John Sanchez and wife, Denise; sisters, Theresa Trahan, Eloisa Campbell; brother-in-law, Willie Chavez and wife, Margaret Chavez; sister-in-law, Anita Chavez; 13 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Juan is also survived by many nieces and nephews. All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. A Viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at 6:30 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. A Final Viewing will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2016, at 9:00 a.m., with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Ricoh Sanchez, Jasper Walker, Mark Spargo, Juan Sanchez, Thomas Kaneshiro, Nicolle Crouch, and Leandra Sanchez. Honorary pallbearers are Sheree Sanchez, Zachary Chavez, Eli Chavez, Amber Segura, Trebor Kaneshiro, Karly Aragon, Vicky Romero-Kaneshiro, and Barbara Haywood.
