Jose Patocino Garcia

1932 - 2024 Jose Pat Garcia, age 92, a lifelong resident of Belen, NM, passed away peacefully and went home to Our Lord on Thursday, September 5, 2024, surrounded by his family. Services will take place on Friday, September 27, 2024, at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, starting with a Visitation at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Rosary at 9:30 a.m. and a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. He is survived by his girlfriend of 30 years, Dolores Padilla; daughter, Mary Ann Lorraine Gallegos (Marcus); sons, Ronald Garcia (Yvette), Julian Luna; grandchildren, Alana Sinclair, Bernadette Barr (John), Mariah Gallegos (Thomas), Amanda Garcia, Denise Garcia, Armon Luna, Andre Luna(Emerald), Desiree Luna; great-grandchildren, Luka Barr, Preslie Alvarez. Isaiah Luna; sister Cecelia Rivera; and many nieces and nephews. Jose is preceded in death by his wife of 34 years and loving mother to their children, Berlinda “Berna” Garcia; parents, Alberto and Gregorita Peralta Garcia; siblings, Joe Angel Garcia, Eustillo Peralta (Ester), Eloy Garcia (Chris), Alfredo Garcia, Albertito Garcia (Martha), Viola Bibano (Manuel), and Mary Aragon (Max); parent in-laws, Elenor “Leo” and Ruperto Garcia; and brother in-laws, Raymond Rivera, Bennie Garcia, and Gene Garcia. He was born on April 4, 1932 in Scholle, NM, to his parents, Alberto and Gregorita Peralta Garcia. Jose was a member of the DAV and American Legion and proudly served in the Korean War with an honorable discharge in 1954. He was employed at the Veterans Hospital as a nursing assistant where he received many awards and was recognized as Employee of The Year in 1985. Jose married his wife Berlinda “Berna” Garcia and they had three children. He enjoyed attending the church fiestas and dances, where he loved to dance and listen to spanish music. Jose loved watching football with his son and family. He was a huge lobo fan and loved attending the games with his son in law and granddaughters at the Pit.
