Jose Galvan

1951-2016 Jose “Shorty” V. Galvan, age 65, a resident of Veguita, NM, went to be with his Viejita, on Saturday, October 29, 2016. During his life he worked building adobe houses and farmed at different dairies. Jose was a proud father of 6 children. He spent most of his life married to the woman he adored and loved. Jose took pride in taking care of her during her illness, making sure his children always had everything they needed. He loved to spoil his 3 youngest grandchildren, Jose, Julian and Olivia. All of his grandbabies were his joy. Jose had a great sense of humor. He was definitely a prankster and jokester, making everyone laugh and sometimes even mad. Jose was always the life of the event, even when he felt very ill. After his long illness he is now dancing with the love of his life. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Olivia Galvan of 31 years; father, Manuel Olivas-Chaparro; sister, Damasia Olivas; niece, Rocio Rivero-Olivas; and granddaughter, Marissa Rodriguez. Jose is survived by his mother, Socorro Carreon-Villareal; children, Vanessa Campos-Galvan (Freddy Campos), Melissa Gutierrez, Maryann Chavez (Patrick Chavez), Joe Griego and son, Eugene Griego and daughter,Antoinette Gallegos; brothers, Alexandro and Martin; sisters, Martha, Betty, Kika, and Myrna; friend, Roalio Durano; 20 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and god children. A Public Viewing will be held at 4:00 p.m., on Friday, November 4, 2016, at Romero Funeral Home, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Final Viewing will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at San Clemente Catholic Church, with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be held at a later date. Pallbearers will be Manuel Mendoza, Marco Rodriguez, Jose Rodriguez, Patrick Chavez Jr., Joseph Griego, Rosalio Duran, Marissa Rodriguez, and Cassandra Ayala.
