Johnny Peña

1958-2017 Johnny Michael Peña, age 58, a resident of Tomé, NM, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was a member of The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tomé. Johnny Michael, known as “Mike” to his family was a fun, loving person who loved to joke and laugh. He had a nickname for just about everyone. Johnny loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his family, friends and the great outdoors, hunting and fishing. He made many wonderful memories. Johnny will be remembered for his primping with his brush and hairspray. He loved his most recent job as a maintenance groundskeeper at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tomé where he received support and serenity since the tragic loss of his son which led to his illness. Johnny was preceded in death by his son, Johnny M. Peña Jr.; and his father, Carlos Peña. He is survived by his daughters, June Peña DeLoia, Johnna Peña (Estevan); mother, Mabel Peña; sisters, Gloria Peña-Chavez (Thomas), Mona Peña, JoAnn Chavez; brothers, Mark Peña, Carlos Peña Jr. (Edwina); grandchildren, Desiree Romero, Brianna and Gianna DeLoia, Myah, Antonio and Carmela Montoya, Michael Peña and Johnny Peña Jr.; nieces and nephews, Christian and Alexa Chavez, Matthew Cordova, Angelo Chavez, Carlitos Peña, Monique Perea, Russell Chavez Jr., Raquel Chavez, Rachelle and Rhyannon Peña. He is also survived by his loving aunties, Oralia Otero, Clarita Lopez, Merlinda Perea, Reina Garley, Bernie Beatty and Laura Padilla. We find comfort that he is now at peace joined with his loving son. His heart was big and at his end he forgave and asked for forgiveness. Mike will be missed immensely by his family and friends. A Final Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tomé, with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Tomé Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matthew Cordova, Russell Chavez Jr., Carlitos Peña, Christian Chavez, Edward Chavez and Josh Armijo. Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Chavez, Russell Chavez and Andrew Chavez.
