James Ryan "Jim"

1966-2024 James R. Ryan (Jim), lovingly known as Babe, DC, Grizzly Bear, and One and Only, age 57, a resident of Los Lunas, NM, passed away at his home on August 10, 2024. Services will take place at the Highland Baptist Church 417 Palomas Dr. SE Albuquerque, NM, 87108, held by the Heaven’s Door Ministry, on Friday, August 23, 2024, beginning with a Visitation at 2:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 3:00 p.m. A Reception Dinner will take place at 5:00 p.m. in the church. He is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Shirley Marie Martinez Ryan; children, William and Wayne Nunn; he was an amazing grandpa and great-grandpa to his grandchildren, Rebecca and Eric Raef, Lisa Escoto, and Andrea Vasquez; great-grandchildren, BJ and Brittany Nunn, Annabeth and Archer Raef, and Alex, Zoey, and Riley Vasquez; parents, Richard Charles and Beverly Linnea Thorson Ryan of Emmaus, PA; brother, Thomas Paul Ryan of California; mother-in-law, Maria Chamness; brother-in-law, Martin Green; sisters-in-law; LaDonna Green, Victoria Sena, Rosalinda Coleman, and Christina Barlow; Aunt, Lucy DeLair; and many other loving family members. Jim is preceded in death by his daughter, Lori Escoto; brother-in-law, Tom Coleman, and so many others. Jim worked in the Railroad as a conductor, track grinder, and track safety person for on-the-ground employees. He and Shirley met on March 12, 2007, and their first date was on March 13, 2007. It was love at first sight for both of them. They loved their lives together for 18 years. Jim loved his family wholeheartedly and was truly loved by all. He loved traveling with his wife and they had many amazing adventures together. Jim loved building beautiful shelves and many other things for their home, he called it his “Honey Do List”. He loved his parents with all his heart. He loved his Furr Babies, he was truly a dog lover. They became so spoiled that bedtime became the 4 of them taking over the bed. There would be space issues just so Jim and Shirley could cuddle. He loved holidays with the family, and always made them special for all. Jim loved his evenings with popcorn movie time, and cooking time with Shirley. Chocolate was his passion! Shirley would wonder if his love for her came before the chocolate. Everyone would drool over his amazing lasagna. He was his wife's knight in shining armor, she never had to open her own doors in their 18 years together. Jim was Shirley’s entire world. He looked like a grizzly bear, but once you got to know him, you knew he was a teddy bear. Everyone who met Jim loved him! Jim, you will always be in our hearts. You’ve left a beautiful memory in each and every one of us. You are loved and truly missed.
