Fermin Ulibarri

˜Fermin Ulibarri, age 69, a resident of Las Nutrias, NM passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2011 after a year long battle with cancer. He retired from Albuquerque Public Schools Heating and Cooling Maintenance after many years of outstanding service. Fermin enjoyed hunting and spending time in the outdoors. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports for the Belen Eagles and cheered them on until days before his death. Fermin was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan (with the exception of Tony Romo). He loved watching classic westerns and rarely missed watching his novellas.˜ Fermin enjoyed the company of his friends and they had a special place in his life. He took great pride in each and every one of his grandchildren. They were all special in a different way. He affectionately called them his “doodes” and “doodas”. Fermin was a one of a kind “Tata” and his passing will leave a void in their lives. Our dad was steadfast in his battle. He was brave until he took his last breath. Throughout the fight with cancer there were many disappointments and he never gave up. Our dad protected his family’s feelings and assured us he was fine until the end. Thank you Pops for being our HERO. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melecio and Erenia Ulibarri; sister, Clorinda Hollingsworth; brother, Isidro Ulibarri; mother and father-in-law, Ricardo and Blacita Romero; nephew, Brian Hollingsworth and two brothers-in-law, Ruben Mendoza and Alferes Griego. Fermin is survived by his wife, Elfa Romero Ulibarri; loving children, Annette Saiz and husband, Andy, Martha Ulibarri, Kevin Ulibarri and wife, Jermaine and Amanda Louise Espinoza and husband, Felix; grandchildren, Andrea Ortiz and husband, Alex, Andres and Hannah Saiz, Jesse Baca, Carlos and Diego Espinoza and Kylie and Emilio Ulibarri; great-grandchildren, Andie, Alejandro, Olivia and Allie Ortiz; siblings, Emma Griego, Mela Mendoza, Robert and Perfie Ulibarri, Bernie and Leo Cordova, Manuel Ulibarri and Mary and Leo Chavez and in-laws, Ruben and Angie Chavez, Delfin and Laura Chavez and Henry and Rosalyn Romero. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, beginning with a viewing on Tuesday, October 25, at 5:30 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. A final visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 26, at 10:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Las Nutrias Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Andres Saiz, Jesse Baca, Emilio Ulibarri, Carlos Espinoza, Robert Chavez, Robbie Ulibarri, Diego Espinoza, James Lucero and Alex Ortiz.
