Ernest R. Maestas

1961-2016 Ernest R. Maestas, age 55, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2016, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Belen, NM, on July 12, 1961, to Frank and Dorothy Maestas. He had a very special place in his mother’s heart from the moment he was born and now they are blissfully reunited. Ernest loved his family and friends to the fullest and taught us all to be loving, forgiving, loyal, and kind. You always knew where you stood with him and he always found a way to see the light in any situation. In 2014 he had a double lung transplant which enabled him to have two more beautiful years with all of us. Within those past two years Ernest has put up an amazing fight to continue on with his new journey and his new lungs. He showed us all what it means to have the will to live and to be a true warrior. Ernest is survived by his son, Ernest Blas Maestas who is his pride and joy and in his own words his most “special accomplishment” in his life; his loving fiancé, Naomi Cordoba who was his angel here on earth; his siblings, Frank L. Maestas, Matthew Maestas, Bernadette Maestas; his nieces, Candace Marie Maestas, Marina Maestas, Desiree Maestas, and Katrina Maestas; his father; Frank R. Maestas and the rest of the Maestas family which includes an abundance of people who love and adore him and all of his friends whose lives that he touched with his joyful spirit. To honor his request no services will be held. Instead Ernest wishes were for everyone to live life to the fullest and to cherish every moment that you have with loved ones. He asks that everyone not shed a tear but share a story that spreads joy and love in his memory. Throughout all his struggles Ernest never questioned his faith and he knew that it was all for a purpose to encourage others to know their own strength and to spread awareness of organ donation. One of his last wishes was to ask people to save a life, and become an Organ Donor.
