Erminia S. Baca

1928-2016 Erminia S. Baca, age 88, a resident of Los Lunas, NM, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 29, 2016. She was born on April 17, 1928, and was able to celebrate her 88th birthday. The Lord took notice of this Angel and had a new plan. Erminia was born in Valencia, NM, to Emiliano and Adelida (Otero) Sanchez. She was always a very strong and determined woman. Erminia married Jesus “Chewie” Baca on August 6, 1951, and built a beautiful life together on a farm in Adelino, NM. In 1963 they had their daughter, Rosemary. She retired after 54 years doing the job she loved. Erminia worked for Valencia Title Company owned by Frank Coplan and continued to work for Rio Grande Title Company owned by Chuck Hayden. Her and Chewie were able to enjoy their grandchildren, her name sake, Erminia Marie and J, as well as her great-grandchildren. Erminia is preceded in death by her parents, Emiliano and Adelida; sister, Rose Sanchez; and brothers, John “Willie” and Melquiades “ Mickey” Sanchez. She is survived by her loving husband, Jesus “Chewie” Baca; Daughter, Rose Mary Baca and partner, Sandy Mendoza; son, John “Buddy” Sanchez and wife, Donna; grandchildren, Erminia Tapia and husband, Juan, J Baca, and Gabby and Jaclynn Mendoza; great-grandchildren, Anthony Aragon Baca, and Juan F. Tapia IV; siblings, Melquidaes Sanchez (Cofita), Willie Sanchez (Virginia), Emiliano Sanchez Jr. (Patsy), Porfie Sanchez, and Vicente Sanchez (Clara). Erminia is also survived by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at Immaculate Concepcion Catholic Church in Tome, NM. A viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m., with a rosary to be recited at 10:30 a.m., and a funeral mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Tome Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers are Juan Tapia, Gabby Mendoza, Richard Swanson, Tom Kaminski, Larry Gallegos, And Robert “Beto” Torres. Honorary pallbearers will be Emily Sanchez, Elena Baca, Theresa Sanchez, John “Buddy” Sanchez, Diane Sanchez, Judy Sanchez, and Monica Tarin.
