Emily Aurora Ortiz

2007-2023 Emily (Em) Aurora Ortiz, age 16, entered into peaceful rest on Tuesday, October 17 with her devoted parents by her side. She was born on February 4, 2007. Em was a feisty, young lady with a strong will to live. She not only lived but she lived with a lot of tenacity and toughness. Em had a contagious smile and infectious laugh that illuminated everything around her. She was a student at Infinity High School where she was expected to graduate in 2026. Em was thriving in school and loved time with her friends. She was a member of the Los Lunas Seventh-day Adventist church where she found a true love of her faith and belief in Jesus. Em enjoyed laughing and playing with other teens but also enjoyed her time of solitude. She had a magnetic personality towards young kids and they always seemed to gravitate toward her. Em loved listening to music and “just chillin”. Her siblings had a true love for their sister and their lives were enriched because of her. They all shared something special about their sister. “My favorite thing about Emily is that she was never afraid to dish it back to me. She always let me have it right back when I would poke fun at her, and we could always have a good laugh about it. Love you Em “Emily always loved to laugh, and I loved that about her. My favorite memory was seeing her after her kidney transplant, she was so happy. I will always remember it.” – Alejandro (Son) “My favorite thing about Emily was her love for music. She never did anything without it playing. She always had a good song on!” – Olivia “I love playing with you Emily. I love you!” - Raymeus “I love you Emily!” - Dino “Em was very sassy, sometimes too sassy but that was one of the things I loved about her. She always had a way to make me laugh. I couldn’t have asked for a better sister” – Allie Em is preceded in death by maternal great-grandfather, Fermin Ulibarri; maternal great-grandmother, Betty Cassano; maternal aunt, Jermaine Ulibarri; paternal great-grandparents, Tereso and Senida Rodriguez; and paternal aunt, Anamaria Ortiz. Em is survived by her parents, Alex and Andrea Ortiz of Veguita; sisters, Andie, Olivia, and Allie; and brothers, Alejandro, Raymeus, and Turay (Dino); grandparents, Andy and Annette Saiz and Ramon and Maria Ortiz; great grandmother, Elfa Ulibarri; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the exceptional doctors and nurses who cared for Emily throughout the years. The doctors and nurses at UNM PICU worked around the clock to give her the best care during her last days. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Craig Wong, Roseann Jacks, MSN RN, Valerie Prando, RN, and Donna Naclerio.
