Eddie Baca

1952-2015 Eddie “Crazy” Baca, age 63, a longtime resident of Belen, NM, went peacefully home to be with our Lord on Saturday, September 19, 2015. He was born on February 28, 1952 in Belen, NM to Filomeno and Altagracia “Grace” Padilla Baca. Eddie worked for the Middle Rio Grande conservancy district for 30 years where he retired as a ditch rider. He was a well known man and anywhere he went he made a friend. Eddie was a fun person to be around, always joking and giving everyone a nickname. His favorite saying as most of us all know was “They don’t call me crazy for nothing” and anyone who had the privilege of knowing Eddie knew exactly what that meant. Whether you were passing by his house or seeing him at Circle K, Eddie would make a memory with anyone he saw. Eddie was a wonderful caring father, brother, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend to many people. Eddie had a heart of gold when it came to his 3 daughters and his 7 grandchildren, that’s what made his life complete. He is preceded in death by his parents, Filomeno and Grace Padilla Baca; brothers, Leroy, Leo, Dennis, and David Baca; sisters, Barbara Romero, Corrine Burquett, and MaryAnn Chavez; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jose and Mary Gallegos; and his brother-in-law, Arthur Mascarena. Eddie is survived by his daughters; Melissa Baca of Belen, Carolyn Jaramillo and husband, Matthew of Belen, and Crystal Zamora and husband, Ernesto Jr. of Belen. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren; Jason Cordova, Matthew Padilla, Isaiah Zamora, Tyler Swint, Noah Jaramillo, Jeremiah Jaramillo, and Jonavan Zamora. Brothers; Sammy, Albert, and Danny Baca; sister, Jennie Morrison; and his sister-in-law Jennie Macarena. Eddie also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends who loved him dearly. All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church on Saturday, September 26, 2015, with a visitation to begin at 9:30 a.m., rosary to be recited at 10:30 a.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Sammy and Mario Baca, Bryan Mascarena, Ernesto Zamora jr., Matthew and Lawrence Jaramillo. Honorary pallbearers are his 7 grandchildren.
