Dionella "Nellie" Sanchez Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

1932-2020 Dionella “Nellie” Maria Lucia Sanchez, age 88, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2020. She was known to all who loved her by Nellie. Nellie married Frank Sanchez at the age of 19. They were blessed with a beautiful marriage of 69 years. Together, Frank and Nellie raised 5 beautiful children. She was a loving and devoted mother to Dodie, Veronica, Ruth, Paulene, and Roland. As their children were growing up, she worked diligently to make sure they had all that they needed. Nellie was known to sew dresses for her daughters and iron clothes to make extra money for her family. She retired as a secretary from the Belen Schools. Nellie was a warm, kind, and loving grandma. When you entered her home, there was a feeling of tenderness and love. Food was always served at noon and there was always enough to go around. Nellie embraced each minute spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was loved by all and her presence will be greatly missed. Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, Josefita and Nicolas Gabaldon; mother and father-in-law, Pablo and Manuelita Sanchez; daughter, Veronica Garret; son, Roland Sanchez; granddaughters, Rachel Archuleta, Stephanie Sais and Marisa Lopez; and grandson, Justin Sullivan; She is survived by her loving husband, Frank Sanchez; daughters, Dodie Padilla (Ruben), Ruth Lopez (Dave), Pauline Chavez (Dennis); daughter-in-law, Janet Sanchez; sister, Margie Anaya (Henry-deceased); and brothers, Nick Gabaldon (Pauline-deceased), Leroy Gabaldon (Stella); 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, and countless nieces and nephews. All services will be celebrated at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, beginning with a visitation at 9:00 AM, rosary to be recited at 9:30 AM, and funeral mass to be celebrated at 10:00 AM.
