Bernie E. Cordova

Bernie E. Cordova, age 68, a resident of Belen, passed away on Saturday, March 26.˜ He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church.˜ ˜In his younger years, Bernie was a boxer and arm wrestled for fun.˜ He retired from the Santa Fe Railroad after 13 years of outstanding service and Avonite.˜ ˜Bernie loved his family and being around his friends.˜ He enjoyed the outdoors along with his matanzas and sitting in his cuartito (little shed) with his brothers and friends.˜ Bernie loved spending time in his huge garden and sharing it with his neighbors and friends.˜ He was an avid shopper at Walmart, always running into friends who always complimented him on his attire. He was a hard worker, a devoted husband, wonderful dad and grandpa, also a wonderful uncle and friend.˜ Bernie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.˜ He was preceded in death by his dad, Julian Cordova; brother, Arturo Cordova and sister, Angie Cordova.˜ Bernie is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Irene Chavez Cordova; his mom, Estella Serna Cordova; four children, Bernadine Cordova and husband, Joe, Ernest Cordova and wife, Loretta,Carlos Cordova and wife, Victoria and Eileen Cordova; five grandchildren, Marysa and Carlitos Cordova, Estevan and Miguel Carrasco and Joshua Cordova; brothers, Juan Cordova and wife, Cruz and Gerald Cordova and wife, Navora and sisters, Annabelle Contreras and husband, Adenago, Nora Maestas and husband Kenny, Maymie Salazar and husband, Al and Julie Gonzales and husband, Teddy.˜ The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support at this time.˜ All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, beginning with a viewing at 9:00 a.m., on Thursday, March 31, with a rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m. and a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.˜ Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens.˜ Pallbearers will be Steven Contreras, Fermin Chavez, Kevin Benavidez, Felimon Garcia, Carlitos Cordova, Estevan Carrasco and Art Cordova.˜ ˜˜˜˜˜˜˜Sign Bernie’s online register book at www.romerofuneralhomenm.com.
