Artimeo A. Calizo

1936-2018 Artimeo “Art” Abugan Calizo, age 81, passed away peacefully in his home, comforted by his family, on February 7, 2018. He was a devoted and loving husband. From the time they met in the third grade, he and Patricia were inseparable. Art joined the Air Force, married the love of his life, and created their beautiful family. After 20 years of service, he retired from the Air Force and then retired from Hughes Aircraft after another 20 years. Art spent much of his time vacationing with his beloved wife and spending quality time with his precious family. After Patricia’s passing, he did everything in his power to care for the rest of his family. Art was a fantastic role model to his children and grandchildren. He was a good, devoted, generous, kind, compassionate, and funny man. Art was a lover of all sports and truly excelled in volleyball, basketball, baseball, bowling, billiards and chess. His intelligence and memory were unparalleled. Art could recall numerous stories which he freely shared. He expressed his feelings of love and admiration for his family constantly. There were no words left unsaid. Family and friends knew how much he cherished them. Art hoped he would be remembered as a good man, but we will always remember him as a great man. He is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; his daughter, Andrea; his son, Jerome; and his great-granddaughter, Laila. Art is survived by his children, Art Jr. (Debbie), Patti, David (Carla), Jason (Nikki), Jay (Lucy), Alicia, and always loved, Beth and Virgie; his 14 grandchildren, whom he loved very much, Monica (Lawrence), Lani (Shawn), Daniel (Monique), Tony (Yesi), Christopher (Sarah), Kayla (David), John boy, Nicole (Angel), Michael, Christian, Joshua, Nicholette, Coda, and Justine; his 8 great-grandchildren, Lawrence, Keanu, Vanessa, Uriah, Kamalani, Jazmin, Bella, and Adam; his sister, Sarah; and last but not least, his very spoiled and loved dog, Lucky. There are many other family and friends who mourn his loss. All services will be held at Calvary Chapel Rio Grande Valley on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 located at 19381 NM-314, Belen, NM 87002.
